Food, Inc. | Film by Robert Kenner (writer, director and producer)
A real eye-opener on the US food industry and in particular on mass-production of meat.
Alongside the awful treatment of animals, the documentary exposes how a number of large corporations are able to control the majority of meat production in the US whilst caring little about consumer health, the welfare of farmers, the safety of workers and the health of the environment.
Although (warning) this might put you off your dinner, it’s the kind of stuff that you really want to know. The positive side of the film is that there are alternatives available — avoiding the worst products sends a message to producers and provides support for alternatives (local farmers, organic producers, etc.).
